Peak Design's long-awaited first entry into the world of rolling luggage. The most requested product by our customers and wholesale partners is finally here.
The status-quo often needs a little smashing, and that means creating solutions from the ground-up. We were flabbergasted to learn that most of the roller bags on the market are a hodgepodge of options picked out of manufacturers' catalogs. That is not how Peak Design rolls (ba dum tiss!). Every part, fabric, feature, and interaction of Roller Pro is one that we have designed in-house.
Traditional rollers have a trolley made from telescoping aluminum tubes. These janky tubes jut into the interior of the roller, taking up valuable storage space. They also twist and rattle endlessly and make for a lousy driving experience, kinda like a shopping cart. Why has nobody fixed this?
The backbone of Roller Pro is a totally proprietary trolley design that we call SlimDrive™. It drives smoother, packs slimmer, and feels better to interact with than anything else on the market. Besides that sub-par driving experience, another big downside of traditional trolley tube design is that they eat up space that you could otherwise be using for packing. SlimDrive's outrageously thin tubes take up very little volume, meaning that you get more space to pack.
The only part of your roller bag that actually touches the ground should certainly get some careful thought. Our custom, smooth-glide casters roll brilliantly across all sorts of materials and are easily replaceable if they wear out as you rack up serious miles with your bag. A 60mm diameter is bigger than most competitors, which means a smoother ride across even more types of surfaces.
The Roller Pro's hybrid construction gives you the best of both the hard roller and soft roller worlds. The outside of the bag is made of our durable Versa Shell™ 550D Fabric, the culmination of our years of Peak Design bag design experience. Versa Shell™ is weatherproof, durable, and beautiful. Plus it is 100% recycled and Bluesign-approved!
Inside the bag is a rigid polycarbonate shell, providing serious protection. How do we know? Well, we tested the hell out of it. But we didn't stop at polycarbonate - a layer of EVA foam and a luxurious felt liner provide even more protection for your stuff.
Our Drawbridge-style Opening marries a minimal footprint with maximum visibility, making it easier than ever to pack and unpack. No more fighting the confines of small hotel rooms or making scenes at the gate before boarding, just stress-free bag access, every time.
Adjustable and removable Drawbridge Cords keep the lid of your bag at the perfect angle for packing. The stowable Organizational Panel has three see-through pockets, with room behind for a jacket or dress shirt behind, or stow it to make the entire volume of the bag a single space. Friction Hinges have been tuned for a smooth opening every time, and are made of a durable glass-reinforced nylon.
Like our other bags, Roller Pro features convenient external carry options that let you quickly increase the amount you are carrying. The outside of the bag has multiple Cord Hook™ connection points, and Roller Pro comes with two Gear Loops™, stretchy lil' helpers that lash things to your bag.
Peak Design uses premium, weatherproof, abrasion-resistant materials—like our Versa Shell™ fabric—so that our bags will last for many years of traveling to come. We pay particular attention to high-impact touchpoints, reinforcing them with Hypalon, UHMWPE thread, or extra bartacks.
Additionally, we test the heck out of our gear before it moves to production, so we can confidently say that something will not just work, but it will work for a very long time.
